A second alleged member of a five-man gang suspected of killing key Crown witness Tommy Chui To-yan in Singapore is being held by the Chinese authorities after his arrest in Guangzhou.

Acting on information passed on by the Independent Commission Against Corruption, suspected Wo On Lok triad society member Wong Kwong-kai was picked up by Public Security Bureau officers in February.

Details of his arrest have been kept secret because of delicate negotiations between Beijing and Hong Kong aimed at securing his and fellow suspect Johnny Cheung Wai-ming's return to the territory to face conspiracy to murder charges.

Both men are alleged to have been part of a five-man gang which conspired to murder millionaire Hong Kong businessman Chui, whose gagged and bound body was found floating off Singapore's Clifford Pier on April 1 last year.

Cheung, 39, also known as 'Tall Boy Ming', has been held by the Beijing bureau in connection with the killing since April last year.
