Cook faces charge over girl's murder

A 23-YEAR-OLD man who was expelled from Taiwan on Saturday appeared in North Kowloon Court yesterday to face a charge of murder.

Tsang Kai-chiu, a cook, is accused of murdering Ms Fok Mei-po, 18, at a flat at Larkspur House, So Uk Estate in Kowloon on June 27, 1990.

He was remanded in jail custody until February 15.

At South Kowloon Court, goldsmith worker Wong Tai-man, 34, who was also deported from Taiwan on Saturday, was charged with robbery.

Wong was accused of robbing three gold ornament dealers of $720,000 worth of gold ornaments at Yuen Fat trading company in Granville Road on April 26, 1988.

Magistrate Mr Richard Davies adjourned the case until February 15 to allow time to seek legal advice.
