Thank you for printing Roger Phillips' letter (South China Morning Post, August 15) regarding the salvation of homosexuals through religion. It explains a lot - about Mr Phillips, at least.
Mr Philips says the 'notion' that homosexuals are born that way is like saying it is all right for paedophiles to have sex with children because 'they're born that way'. Following this logic, would the notion that heterosexuals are 'born that way' be like saying it's all right for heterosexuals to have sex with children? Homosexuals certainly didn't invent paedophilia, nor (gender aside) do they head the lists of any other 'sinful' sexual activities. They just make more headlines. He also says he doesn't want gays to be treated in an unfair manner.
He then uses the Bible to prove their sinfulness, and says gays should live with the 'consequences' if they don't stop it.
According to him, 'fair' is in the eye of the beholder.
Mr Phillips' letter gives proof to the old saying 'give a man enough rope'.
