Important lessons to learn

WHEN I first learned about the Lan Kwai Fong tragedy, I felt deeply saddened.

Now that we have had time to reflect, we must make sure this never happens again.

There are certain measures that can be taken.

For example, there should be strict limits on the number of people allowed into this area and a restriction on who can and who cannot consume alcohol.

People who are intoxicated are not aware of what they are doing and can be a danger to others. Also, the use of foam sprays should be banned, because on New Year's Eve, they made the ground slippery and dangerous.

We can't single out the police for blame. Members of the public are also at fault and should have shown more self-discipline.
