Unionists Lee Cheuk-yan and Chan Yuen-han said they hoped the Government could help speed the release of Cheung Yiu-sin.
Cheung's son, Ling-sang, told the legislators his father was arrested during a visit to Henan province.
Cheung, who has regularly visited the mainland, left on his latest trip in March.
Mr Lee said Mr Cheung Ling-sang did not hear from his father, but was later told the elderly man had been jailed for supporting the Kuomintang more than 20 years ago.
