Responding to the rapidly growing demand for high-quality stone blocks worldwide, the leading Finnish granite producer, TG Granit, is expanding its product offering to include more colours and one-of-a-kind varieties.

The company has gone a long way from its roots as a family-owned enterprise established in 1966 to a valued global exporter of Karelia Red and Baltic Brown granite blocks to China and other markets.

To give itself a boost this year, TG Granit will participate in the China Xiamen International Stone Fair from March 6-9. The company will display its present product portfolio at its Nordic-styled booth (R010-2). "The Karelia Red and Baltic Brown granites' vibrant hues have gained a loyal following among the Chinese customers," says Unto Ahtola, managing director.

"By introducing a wider selection of colours, we wish to satisfy the needs of our global clientele." Ahtola also attributes the superb colours and structure of TG blocks to the strict standards employed in the company's Virolahti and Luumaki quarries. These facts have made

TG Granit a supplier with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certificates. It uses innovative drilling and blasting technology and is looking to source quarrying tools such as diamond wires and drilling bits from China.

Of TG Granit's rough granite blocks that leave the Kotka port, a majority goes to trading houses and stone supply companies in China. Investing heavily on the company's relationship with its Chinese customers, TG Granit's executives make it a point to visit the mainland frequently. Through its face-to-face client meetings, the global enterprise hopes to establish a stronger foothold in China.

"Trust is something you earn," says Petra Alho, customer service manager. "We concentrate on our customers and support their businesses with first-class products and services with adequate stone reserves."
