A decision will be made today on whether Michael Jackson will be allowed to perform at Hong Kong Stadium.

Concerts at the stadium have a 70-decibel ceiling, following complaints from residents.

Midas Promotions, which would organise the concert, said it hoped the stadium's board of governors and nearby residents would treat the show as a special case and waive the restrictions.

However, legislator and urban councillor Fred Li Wah-ming said there was little chance the noise limits would be lifted.

Stadium managers Wembley International were tight-lipped on whether they wanted the concert, which would gross around $40 million in ticket sales for a two-day stint.

The superstar begins his world tour in Prague tomorrow.
