SCOTTISH Premier Division side Celtic want to play an exhibition match in the territory on June 3.
Celtic, whose 2-1 defeat of Inter Milan in the 1967 European Cup final made them the first British team to win the coveted Cup, have faxed the Hongkong Football Association (HKFA) with their intention of coming here.
A HKFA spokesman said they will ask Celtic what they want in terms of appearance money and other conditions before deciding whether they have a chance of playing in the territory.
Celtic won a British record nine consecutive Scottish league titles from 1966 to 1974 but have run into bad times recently.
They have fallen behind bitter rivals Glasgow Rangers and are millions of pounds in debt.
Celtic, without a trophy since 1989, are already out of the running in the Scottish league this season.
