A LARGE business delegation from the mainland will arrive in Taipei tomorrow for a 10-day visit to strengthen economic co-operation. The 30-member group, led by Zhang Xuwu , executive vice-chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce will visit Taipei, Taichung, Kaohsiung Harbour and Tainan. 'This is the first delegation of mainland entrepreneurs to seek closer relations with Taiwan enterprises and we are not going to negotiate anything political,' Mr Zhang, also vice-chairman of the finance and economic committee of the National People's Congress, said. Asked if a meeting with Taiwan's semi-official Straits Exchanges Foundation had been arranged, Yao Yuan , secretary-general of the delegation, said it would be welcomed if requested. She said the group would visit major Taiwan enterprises including the Formosa Plastics Corporation, the President Enterprises Corporation and the Dah An Commercial Bank. 'We'll meet their chairmen Kao Ching-yuan , Wang Yung-ching and Loh Jen-kong to learn more about their business management skills and how they develop their international market,' Ms Yao, also a representative from Beijing's Taiwan Economic Research Institute, said. A meeting with Koo Chen-fu , former chairman of the foundation, has been arranged, but Ms Yao emphasised it was in his capacity as a 'Taiwan businessman'. She said some of the mainland firms had prepared proposals to seek co-operation projects with Taiwan counterparts. 'Priority of such joint projects will be given to information technology and electronic products,' she said.
