Flax and linen products supplier Gilbert Holdings has budgeted $20 million to buy or build a factory to cultivate its production presence in China. Director Sunny Wong Man-fu said yesterday the company was looking for a partnership with any potential textile sub-contractor and possible sites in southern China for a new factory which would produce linen products. The factory, if built or bought, would be Gilbert's first in China. A decision would be made during the next six months, he said. Chairman Wong Wing-wah said the company planned to expand into Southeast Asian markets such as Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia.
