THE film production which riled Lan Kwai Fong tenants and patrons on Tuesday night by re-enacting the New Year's Eve tragedy has left the trendy bar area and sacked a key crew member.
The news comes as the father of one of the 21 people who died in the crush pleaded for the film makers to stop for the sake of grieving relatives.
Sources said Paul Tsai, an organiser of the location shooting, was sacked yesterday by executives of Darwell Film Enterprises.
Tsai said he was talking to his lawyers.
However, sources said Darwell would continue to make the documentary drama, based around a small group of teenagers whose lives are ''forever changed'' by the melee, but would not return to Lan Kwai Fong.
Sources said the whole project was very much in its infancy. Tuesday had been the first day of shooting. One patron had to be restrained from attacking camera equipment as extras played dead around D'Aguliar Street.
