PRISM, a leading Hong Kong-based Asian public relations and event management consultancy, will go global after signing up with international network API. The UK-based API - a company headed by former British Olympic silver medallist Alan Pascoe - officially announced the deal yesterday. The move sees the Hong Kong market leader in sports promotion joining forces with an emerging international name. PRISM's joint managing directors, Marlene Lee and Des McGahan, will continue to run the day-to-day operations of API-PRISM from their new offices in Central under a multi-year management contract. 'API's growing international network is the perfect partner for what we believe will be an exciting era of growth and development for events and sponsorship in Asia,' said Lee. 'Our services are complementary yet not overlapping.' 'We already have a well-founded reputation for excellence in the marketplace going back eight years,' added McGahan. 'This link with API is also a boost for the sponsorship business in Asia while the investment in a Hong Kong company represents a vote of confidence in the territory ahead of the 1997 changeover.' PRISM made its name handling international events like the Cathay Pacific HongkongBank Rugby Sevens, the Johnnie Walker Classic golf events and the 555 Hong Kong-Beijing rally. Last month, the organisers of the Rugby World Cup Sevens awarded PRISM the PR rights for the international tournament to be staged next March in the territory.
