Children travelling on school buses will have an escort on board from next year, when new traffic regulations come into force. From February, school buses with more than 16 seats must have an escort on board. The safety measure is being taken following several incidents when schoolchildren were caught in bus doors. Police officers yesterday gave out pamphlets to parents and bus drivers arriving to pick up kindergarten students on their first day at school this term. Parents have been given guidelines on how to choose school bus operators by making sure all safety measures have been. Bus operators have also been told to adopt a new colour scheme for easy identification, and have a broadcasting system so that escorts can communicate with the children.
