Precision, quality and reliability - these hallmarks of Swiss engineering - set FAES ahead of the pack. Offering high-performance machines that process, laminate, slit and rewind sensitive technical foils and films, FAES brings its innovative products to Asia.

"Our core strength lies in developing customised solutions for complex industry requirements," says Dr Matthias Weibel, owner and CFO.

The company manufactures its flagship line of slitting and rewinding machines with superior drive technology and performance for numerous applications for worldwide distribution. Allocating 10 per cent of its turnover for research and development, FAES works closely with customers throughout the value chain - from product design to concept studies, to simulation and prototype construction.

Beginning as a small tool-making workshop in Switzerland in 1912, FAES' entrepreneurial approach has enabled it to carve its niche globally. The company holds over 80 per cent of the domestic market and serves the top 10 converters worldwide. It has subsidiaries in the United States and Czech Republic, and partner networks across different continents. In Asia, FAES foresees a minimum of 10 per cent revenue growth, with continued robust margins in Japan, India and China.

To meet the region's demand for quality machines at competitive prices, FAES forged ties with a Chinese firm in Nanjing. "By combining Swiss knowledge in target-oriented engineering with our Chinese partner's local expertise in product configurations, we are able to produce new entry-level machines using high-grade components," says Philippe Morf, owner and CEO.

A strategic outsourcing partner, FAES is also a contract manufacturer for components, systems and precision parts, and speciality machines. It mainly serves Europe's various industries including food and beverage, medical technology, defence and aerospace.

With a solid footing in China's coating and converting industries, FAES aims to expand into other segments such as medical technology. The company seeks collaborations with engineering experts to develop its position in China and eyes the flourishing markets of Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia and South Korea.
