The award-winning American designer, Tommy Hilfiger, is launching his fragrance for men, Tommy, in Hong Kong this month. As for the character of the fragrance, Hilfiger says: 'It runs parallel with everything I do, which is young, fresh and all-American. 'Indeed, all the crisp and natural notes of this light fragrance, termed an effervescent woody, are of American origin.' In a trip across the US, it explores sensations and scents that are an intrinsic part of the American landscape. An original approach to freshness in the top notes blends tangy citrus accords (grapefruit) with the tartness of cranberry and the invigorating purity of rain - plus cool herbal notes of blue grass and fragrant spearmint. At the heart is an inviting blend of freshness and American home comfort - apple pie spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg and gardens filled with yellow roses, blue spruces and the the clean watery scent of the cactus flower. At the end of the journey is the woodiness of red maple, cottonwood and warm driftwood, intensified with touches of warm and spicy amber. Like Hilfiger's fabrics, the ingredients are all natural; like his fashion, the effect is energetic and upbeat, tempered by classic woods. The same aesthetic is evident in the clean classic lines of the bottle - rounded shoulders, prismatic facets - offset with a hi-tech cap. The box for the fragrance echoes his red-white-and-blue flag logo and is lined with his signature Oxford stripe. The scent is available in Hong Kong in eau de cologne spray, after shave, after-shave spray and balm, deodorant stick, body wash and soap. At the Tommy road show in Times Square today, a Tommy Hilfiger T-shirt in a Pillow Pack is being given away with the purchase of a 100 ml Tommy cologne spray ($375). For any Tommy purchase over $200, customers will receive a free Tommy Hilfiger sling bag.
