TORRENTIAL rain which has fallen since Friday night has caused landslides across the territory. In Tai Hang Road, 43 residents had to be evacuated by police after a landslip. In Ap Lei Chau, a huge rock measuring about 15 square metres rolled down from a hill on to a football pitch near the junction of Ap Lei Chau Bridge Road and Lee Nam Road. Flooding was reported on Hong Kong island at Kennedy Town, Tai On and Shau Kei Wan. In Kowloon, flooding occurred at Humphrey's Avenue. No casualties have so far been reported, according to emergency services spokesmen. The highest rainfall recorded was 240 millimetres in Hong Kong Island East. The weather is expected to improve in the next few days.
