BNP Private Banking Asia has appointed Janet Lien as senior vice-president and regional head of research. Ms Lien will be responsible for research and strategies for the Asian financial markets and will be involved in the dissemination of BNP's worldwide investment strategy. She will also work closely with BNP Hong Kong's treasury division to develop structured investment products for BNP's private banking clients.Hang Seng Bank has named Calvin Tse as senior manager and deputy head of the private banking division. Prior to joining the bank, he was head of private banking at Westpac Banking Corporation in Hong Kong. Between 1993 and 1995, Mr Tse was the marketing head of the Hong Kong team at Union Bank of Switzerland. He was vice-president of the private banking centre, Kowloon zone, at Citibank between 1989 and 1993.Ben Kong has been appointed as Christie's representative in Beijing. He will work closely with Lillian Chu, Christie's representative in Shanghai. He was the editor of Art of China magazine before joining Christie's in October 1990 as a specialist in the Chinese paintings department in Hong Kong.David Bobo has been appointed director of marketing and sales of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (Management) Ltd, the management company responsible for managing and operating the centre. He was formerly senior vice-president for administration of Leisure Management International in Houston, Texas, a company specialising in management and operation of public assembly facilities including convention centres and arenas. Salomon Brothers has named Salvatore Petrancosta as director, credit review, responsible for credit risk management in the Asia Pacific. Prior to joining Salomon, Mr Petrancosta worked for various units of Prudential ofAmerica. Based in Hong Kong, he was responsible for developing the financial processes for the company's asset management business in the Asia Pacific. Christine Lai is vice-president of human resources for Asia Pacific. She will assume the role of regional head of Asia-Pacific human resources. She joins from Morgan Stanley Asia, where she was director of human resources. She previously held various human resources positions for Peregrine Investment Holdings and other financial institutions.Thornton Management (Asia) has appointed Neil Heywood as business and product development manager. He will be responsible for developing and marketing retail pension and individual savings products throughout Asia. Mr Heywood joins Thornton from Sun Life International where he was responsible for building the company's business in the Middle and Far East. Ernst & Young has named Liu Shu-yen as a senior consulting actuary. She will work with Ernst & Young's insurance industry specialists and global actuarial services group to provide actuarial consulting services to life, health and general insurers in Asia. Prior to more than six years of actuarial consulting experience with Ernst & Young in Boston, she worked with two major international life insurance companies.Top Glory Insurance (Bermuda) has named Crispina Caballero as vice-president and actuary. Previously, Ms Caballero was an assistant vice-president and actuary at Manulife Financial in Canada for six years.
