A bite of Teuscher confections offers a taste of the rich chocolate-making legacy that chocolatier extraordinaire Dolf Teuscher Snr built in 1932. Inspired by a genuine passion for chocolate, Dolf Teuscher Jnr scoured the world for the finest and freshest ingredients to deliver delectable flavours in every mouthful.

"Our philosophy is uncompromising quality and freshness. This has been a family tradition that's been passed on along three generations," says Rolando Ramos, international department head.

Teuscher aims to provide a sensory feast to customers. Visiting a Teuscher store is like entering a fantasy world lined with rows of pralines, chocolate bars, biscuits and truffles. The popular Champagne Truffes, created by the Teuscher founder himself, is a prominent fixture in stores and comprises 80 per cent of Teuscher's sales.

Partnering with chocolate lovers, Teuscher has expanded its business abroad through franchises. In line with its brand promise of quality and freshness, Teuscher makes all chocolate in Switzerland and ships weekly orders to its stores globally.

Many Teuscher franchisees are loyal customers who also help the company develop new products for different markets. In particular, Teuscher worked with its partner in the Middle East to develop a rose truffle using natural rose oil, which is a popular flavouring in the region and welcomed worldwide.

Renowned in Europe and North America, Teuscher is gaining greater traction in Asia. Teuscher first entered Asia more than 30 years ago through Japan and Singapore. Since it opened two years ago, Teuscher's store in Shanghai has been so successful with its online and physical shops that its local partner plans to build a third store. Expansion in the region continues with further shops in Seoul and Bangkok. Teuscher eyes partnerships with prospective franchisees in metropolitan areas such as Beijing, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur.

"We want partners who share our passion for chocolates and can guarantee that they can maintain quality and freshness," Ramos says.
