Paving the way for a full launch of their stored value smart cards, Hongkong Bank and Hang Seng Bank have opened Mondex service centres in Taikoo Shing's Cityplaza and Sha Tin's New Town Plaza.
The centres will accept applications for the card and serve as pick-up points for customer devices.
The two banks yesterday unveiled the design of the card to be issued next month.
They would distribute application forms later this month to selected customers living near the two centres.
The banks will programme about 100 automated teller machines to enable customers to download cash from their accounts to their Mondex card.
They said market research studies showed up to 80 per cent or about 3.5 million of their customers would be interested in using the card.
