Shum, the writer of Diaoyu Tai Military Song and an organiser of the islands campaigns in the early 1970s, has secured support from EMI, Polygram and BMG.
Radio stations have agreed to broadcast the song.
The song was released along with another single advocating use of the Chinese language.
Some 20 singers from Hong Kong and Taiwan will take part in the recording next week.

'The pop singers have no experience of the original movement which took place long time ago,' said Shum.
