The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) yesterday signed co-operative memoranda of understanding on assistance and information exchanges with securities regulators in New Zealand and Spain in its latest bid to tighten its links with the world's watchdogs.
The accords with the Securities Commission of New Zealand and the Comision Nacional del Mercado de Valores are the latest in a string of similar co-operative memoranda with China, Britain, Australia, Thailand, Malaysia, France, Indonesia, the United States, Taipei and British Columbia.
The agreements will allow Hong Kong and other regulatory bodies to establish a united front to protect investors and more effectively regulate the marketplace.
