A primary school student, who allegedly threw a glass bottle from a Tseung Kwan O public housing block injuring a schoolmate, would face a maximum penalty of six months' jail and $1,000 fine if convicted in a Juvenile Court, police said yesterday. Despite receiving a letter of apology from the boy, the parents of the victim, seven-year-old Wong Kwok-hei, could still demand compensation through a civil claim. Assistant Tseung Kwan O divisional commander, Detective Chief Inspector Chung Tat-ming, said that the eight-year-old boy might be charged with allowing an object to fall from a height. Police officers are waiting for a report from Prince of Wales Hospital, where Kwok-hei was listed as being in satisfactory condition. Kwok-hei was hit by the glass bottle as he left Pik Lam House, Tsui Lam Estate about 12.30 pm on Monday on his way to school. The other boy was arrested after police conducted a door-to-door inquiry. He was released on $100 bail and required to report back to Tseung Kwan O police station on Monday.
