I refer to the letter from Choith C. Ramchandam headlined, 'Puzzling', which appeared in the South China Morning Post, September 4. Mr Ramchandam asks why Hongkong Telecom hasn't matched the discounts currently being offered by callback operators. Our services have the clearest, fastest and most reliable connections. They are also simple to use. They are based on direct connections and are backed up by round-the-clock engineering and operator assistance. Many customers have told us that they prefer our quality, but would like to enjoy it at a lower price. We have responded to this need with a range of call plans which enable savings of up to 20 per cent on our normal rates.
