Having been an American Express cardholder since 1983, I was enticed by their recent advertising campaign to apply for the American Express Credit Card.
Especially attractive was the low interest rates and the waiver of the annual membership for one year.
As such, I cancelled my existing card and applied for, and was granted, the new credit card.
Upon receiving my new card, the envelope it came in also contained an autopay form which I began to fill out.
However, upon reading the form more closely, I found that the autopay only referred to the minimum amount payable each month and that authorisation for the whole balance was not available, this was not the case with my previous charge card.
I have two questions to ask American Express, the first, why is the full settlement of the amount on the card by way of autopay not available on the credit card but is available on the charge card? And secondly, if both VISA and Mastercard offer this option, why doesn't American Express? NAME AND ADDRESS SUPPLIED
