Surface treatment technologies are becoming more vital as manufacturers seek to significantly improve the performance and durability of precision components, while reducing their environmental footprint. Dongwoo HST, a leading South Korean provider of advanced heat treating and coating solutions, meets these market challenges through continuous innovation.

Matching the strength of South Korea's major players in the automotive and electronic sectors throughout the past 29 years, Dongwoo is ramping up its international expansion to bring its cutting-edge technologies to the global frontline.

The company opened a third factory in China last October and is slated to set up manufacturing sites in Japan and the United States this year.

"We see the most growth potential in China where manufacturing companies can really benefit from our world-class surface treatment equipment and services," says Chung Soo-jin, Dongwoo president. "We're open to forging strategic partnerships with automotive and electronic manufacturers and first-tier suppliers."

In addition to its innovative capability, Dongwoo's key competencies also include quality assurance in a mass-production setting, delivery reliability and a high level of service. These strengths have propelled the company to become the partner of choice of industry leaders Hyundai Motor, Kia Motors and Samsung Electronics.

By closely collaborating with institutes and universities in technological development, Dongwoo has built a highly competitive portfolio of industrial heat treating and coating furnaces, supplemented by coating solutions and commercial heat treating and coating services. Its strong emphasis on research and development has led to numerous breakthrough products and technologies, including its low-friction, diamond-like-carbon coatings for automotive engine parts and TACSiCoN coatings for aluminium die-casting.

Dongwoo is also renowned for low-temperature vacuum carburising, which is a more environmentally sensitive option to traditional carburising.

"We're ready to share our technologies," Chung says. "Our goal is to build in China, Japan and the US the same solid position we've achieved in South Korea."
