Four college Roteract Clubs will be raising funds to help blind people and heighten public awareness of the problems faced by the blind.

Clubs at Baptist University, Chung Chi College, Hong Kong University and Lingnan College have organised a fund-raising programme for Orbis International called 'Gift of Sight, Glare of Hope'.

The programme runs until the end of December and is divided into three parts: a Christmas card design contest, a fund-raising film show and a pop singers' CD sale.

For the Christmas card design competition the theme is 'Let the Blind Feel Christmas Joy and Happiness'.

Students from about 100 secondary and primary schools in the territory will participate. Entries must be in early next month and the results will be announced a few weeks later. Those aged 15 or under will contest the junior section and those over 15 the senior section.

The winners will not only receive certificates as rewards, but also a chance to visit the Orbis aircraft and to have their cards printed and sold at universities and elsewhere.
