TWO letters in the South China Morning Post on January 30 were inaccurate, and failed to address any issue.
The first accuses animal rights activists of hypocrisy and of being victims of the ''cuddly bunny syndrome''. This is untrue.
Most people who care about animal welfare are vegetarian and will only wear leather products out of economic and practical necessity. Fur, on the other hand, is purely a luxury commodity. It represents all that is cruel, selfish and destructive about our treatment of the environment.
The second letter is a protest from a woman who was refused entry into Mad Dog's Central, because she was wearing a fur coat. Instead of using this space as a forum for airing her views or to challenge those who barred her, she resorted to a vengeful attack on Mad Dogs' management.
We must not lose sight of the issue which is, we are the guardians of the environment and as such we have a duty to care for, amongst other things, animals.
Never criticise anyone for trying to make things a little better, no matter how small their actions may seem.
