KCRC station platforms may be expanded as cross-border commuter figures continue to swell. The move is being considered as part of expansion being undertaken at several stations which includes enlargement of entrances and exits and building new ones. Escalators are being upgraded. Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation's head of operations, Lee Yan-tai, said Kowloon Tong, Sheung Shui and Fanling were some of the busiest stations. An 11 to 15 per cent increase in the number of passengers - now about 4.5 million people daily - has been forecast over the next three to five years.
