A hardened criminal who accused three police officers of forcing him to shoplift a bottle of soap came clean yesterday and admitted he had a previous conviction for stealing shampoo. Convicted drug trafficker Chan Ka-leung, 28, identified two of the officers as 'Mr Scarface' and 'Mr Pimple' and claimed they had framed him with a shoplifting charge when they stopped him on February 2. Constables Wong Chi-keung, 28, Mok Chung-yuen, 28, and Chan Siu-wai, 22, denied trying to pervert the course of justice. Questioned by defence barrister Tom Cheng Pui-kee, Chan - currently serving a 28-month sentence for drug trafficking - admitted to the District Court he had seven previous convictions, including one for shoplifting a bottle of shampoo. The prosecution claims the officers forced Chan to steal a bottle of shower cream from a 7-Eleven in Nathan Road and took him in for questioning after stopping him outside the shop. The trial continues today before Judge Steven Bailey.
