KMB sued over death of woman

THE family of a 55-year-old woman has filed a writ in the Supreme Court against the Kowloon Motor Bus company claiming damages for her death.

Ms Lui Wo-shun, a linen attendant with Maxim Caterers, was a passenger in the bus when she lost her balance and fell, sustaining multiple injuries from which she died.

She was on the lower deck on October 23, 1990, when, it is claimed, the bus jolted violently near the Tsuen Wan MTR station causing her to fall.

The writ claimed the accident was caused by the negligence of the bus driver, Mr David Lau, who was driving at an excessive speed and did not keep a safe distance behind the vehicle in front of him.

Ms Lui, a mother of three adult children, was taken to Princess Margaret Hospital where she died.

The family is claiming damages, and funeral and medical expenses.
