A Queen Elizabeth Hospital mortuary technician was jailed for three months yesterday for accepting bribes from funeral parlours to speed up the release of bodies. Leung Ming-kau, 59, pleaded guilty at the South Kowloon Court to two charges of accepting bribes. From December 1988 to April 1995 Leung received between $30,000 and $50,000 from funeral parlours. He distributed about $700 a month to three other mortuary staff. Magistrate Mary Yuen Lai-wah also ordered Leung to pay $30,000 in court costs.
