Olympic gold medallist Lee Lai-shan made a winning return to competition by winning the third leg of the Zest Hong Kong Windsurfing Circuit in her home waters in Cheung Chau yesterday. Hong Kong's first Olympic champion won the leg by just one point from second-placed Ken Wong Hop-hi, who threw in the towel in the fifth and final race by finishing fourth complaining of exhaustion. Lee finished the leg with two victories and three second-placed finishers. However, she cannot win the overall championship because she had missed the first two legs owing to her training for the Olympic Games. Lee's boyfriend, Sam Wong Tak-sum, also made a successful return to competition by finishing third overall in the leg. Continuing where she left off as the overnight leader, Lee taught her local rivals a lesson with another polished performance. Nelson Tang retained his lead in the overall circuit standings after finishing fourth overall in the weekend leg.
