Flamboyant legislator Chim Pui-chung had his multi-billion dollar libel suit against senior executives of the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) dismissed in the High Court yesterday.
Mr Chim immediately vowed to continue his legal battle, saying he wanted to publicise what he claimed were unfair practices on the part of the SFC.
Mr Chim filed a writ in July against five top-ranking SFC executives, including chairman Anthony Neoh, claiming $10 billion in damages for alleged malicious libel.
Mr Justice Gerald Godfrey allowed the SFC's action to strike out Mr Chim's writ but told the Mandarin Resources chairman he had 14 days to re-file an amended writ if he wanted to continue his battle against the regulatory body.
If Mr Chim does not file a new writ by 4 pm on October 15, he will face bearing the entire legal costs for both sides.
Mr Chim yesterday confirmed he would file an amended writ after consultations with his lawyer.
