KUI Tan battled their way to another precious point by holding second-placed Michelotti to a 0-0 draw in a Hongkong First Division game at Shamshuipo Sports Ground last night. Kui Tan, who ended the game the stronger of the two sides, collected their 10th point of the season to move four points clear of the relegation zone. They now look capable of staying out of the bottom two to secure top-flight football next season. At the top end of the table, Michelotti lost further ground on runaway leaders Eastern. Michelotti have 19 points from 10 games, five behind Eastern, who have two matches in hand. Michelotti had to play without two of their five overseas players as central defender Richard Lant had 'flu and midfielder John Bottomley had a knee injury. And with the strike force of Alan Walsh and Tony Sealy, with nine goals between them this season, checked by the Kui Tan defence the game always looked like ending in stalemate, though debutant Graham Cooper and Stuart McCall went close for Kui Tan near the end.
