A territory-wide campaign will be launched by the Hong Kong Sports Institute (HKSI) and the Hong Kong Badminton Association to identify future local badminton stars.

The seven-region talent identification programme, part of the Vita Distilled Water Badminton Scheme, has already attracted more than 1,500 participants from the ages of 11 to 13.

The participants will be asked to go through a vigorous skill test at their respective district sports centres under the guidance of HKSI head badminton coach Chan Chi-choi and scholarship athletes Chan Siu-kwong, Tam Kai-chuen, Tung Chau-man, Ng Ching and Ng Wei.

Sports scientists from the institute will be testing the athletes' muscle power, endurance and agility. Successful participants will be given a skill refining course before they are eligible for the regional squad to represent the territory.
