The wife and friends of a businessman missing in Shenzhen said they feared for his life last night after authorities found his car in a ditch.
The Japanese-made car driven by Ho Man-fai, 42, was recovered from the roadside in the northern Guangdong county of Yangshan, seven hours' drive from Shenzhen.
The father-of-three was last seen at a mahjong party in Shenzhen at midnight on September 30, and his family is uncertain how the car ended up in the ditch at 7 am the next day.
Mr Ho, manager of an aluminium window frame factory in Shenzhen, lives with his wife and children, aged eight to 18, in Tai Po.
But he has a second home in Shenzhen.
His business partner, Winson Choi, said friends had placed 'missing person' advertisements in mainland newspapers.
