American International Assurance general manager Frank Chan and Prudential Assurance general manager Eddie Fong met the director of the Government Secretariat of the Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) Office, Pamela Tan.

Mr Chan is also the chairman of the Life Insurance Council while Mr Fong heads up its specialist MPF taskforce.

They discussed investment restrictions, disclosure, investment reserves and bond valuations.

'They were very good discussions and we now have a better understanding of the others' position,' Mr Chan said. There had been no breakthrough in any of the areas even though Mr Chan said he was optimistic of a favourable outcome in at least two of the areas.
