Data firms expand marketing alliance

Sybase and Platinum Technology say they will expand their existing marketing agreements.

Sybase will continue to remarket Platinum's InfoHub and InfoPump data access products and Platinum will now remarket Sybase's DirectConnect products and IQ interactive warehouse server.

Kenneth Lau, managing director for Sybase in Hong Kong, said: 'Data warehousing has become a major requirement for companies to ensure their competitiveness in the market today.' Davis Chau, country manager for Platinum, said the partnership signified a joint vision of the future.

Both companies were founded in 1987 and have targeted different market segments. Platinum has actively concentrated on the Asia-Pacific market.

By extending the agreement, the companies are hoping to raise their market share of the increasingly expanding database business.
