APPOINTMENTS

AT & T has announced the appointment of Mr Joseph Antonellis as regional managing director for AT & T EasyLink Services, the company's electronic messaging arm.

The unit develops and markets messaging services, including electronic data interchange (EDI), electronic mail and enhanced facsimile services for business customers worldwide.

Mr Antonellis, who held that position in New Jersey prior to his transfer to Hongkong, was formerly director, Asia Pacific, for Western Union.

FISERV (ASPAC) has announced the appointment of Mr Joseph Chow Chi-hung as sales regional manager for North Asia.

He will be responsible for marketing the company's specialised data processing systems and complementary products and services to financial institutions in Hongkong, Macau, China, Taiwan, Korea, Japan and the Philippines.

Mr Chow has more than 10 years experience in information management within the banking and finance industry.

SYSTEMS Union Ltd (SUL) has appointed Ms Paulina Pow as executive director, responsible for the development of corporate accounts throughout the region.

Ms Pow has overall responsibility for expanding SUL's corporate user base for Sun Systems financial management software.

Ms Pow has more than 10 years experience in the marketing and sales of a broad range of management information systems, including direct Sun Systems sales experience.

MR Errol Chan has returned from Australia to manage IT Partners (ITP) Hongkong, an independent information technology consultancy set up by ICL Hongkong.

Mr Chan worked at ICL Hongkong for five years before moving to Australia in 1990 to spearhead the company's application marketing effort.

ITP was set up in Britain in 1990. Since then, it has been operating in most of the countries where ICL has a significant presence.

ITP is now operating full-time in Hongkong following a ''soft'' launch last July.

ORACLE Systems Hongkong has announced the appointment of Mr P. W. Pong as managing director.

Mr Pong has worked in the IT industry for 14 years and has extensive experience in sales and service management for leading multinational companies.

Before joining Oracle, he spent 10 years at Digital Equipment, where he held a variety of positions including country sales manager of Digital's mainland China operations, Taiwan distributor country manager, and group sales manager in Hongkong.

Other key appointments include Mr Kenneth Wong as major accounts manager and Mr Jay Jewell as consultant for Oracle's financial applications.

In addition, Mr Steve Faris, previously product manager for CASE products has been promoted to product manager for the full range of Oracle products.

DIGITAL Equipment Asia has appointed Mr Bob Cooper as storage marketing manager for the Asia region.

In his new post, Mr Cooper will develop and implement marketing and business development strategies, and provide sales support, sales training and customer event support for the growing mass storage market in Asia.

Mr Cooper joined Digital in 1981 to set up Digital's Middle East regional offices in Abu Dhabi, where he ran the operation for three years. In 1984 he moved to Hongkong as account manager for a government agency.

DIGITAL Equipment Hongkong has appointed Ms Grace Su as marketing manager.

Ms Su will be responsible for developing and managing local product strategies, marketing communications, direct merchandising and relationships with Digital's local sales channels.

Ms Su joins Digital after six years at ICL Hongkong, where her most recent post was services marketing manager.

FOLLOWING a recent reshuffle of its worldwide sales management structure, Novell has located its new regional headquarters in Sydney, Australia, and appointed Mr Arthur Ehrlich as vice-president Asia/Pacific with responsibility for sales and operations.

Mr Ehrlich, 59, becomes one of three regional vice-presidents.

Since 1989, Mr Ehrlich has been general manager of Novell Australia, and now assumes responsibility for a region that represents about 10 per cent of Novell sales.
