Former Executive Councillor Rita Fan Hsu Lai-tai accused the Government yesterday of failing to co-operate on handover celebrations.

Mrs Fan, vice-chairman of the pro-China Association for Celebration of Reunification of Hong Kong with China, said at its first meeting yesterday that the Government had neither provided financial aid nor co-operation on the sharing of venues.

'Our objective is to celebrate the unification of Hong Kong with China, but I don't know what their theme is,' Mrs Fan said.

Her association, formed by the Preparatory Committee to organise celebration activities, is planning to hold two big shows, on June 30 and on July 1, at the Hong Kong Stadium.

They are hoping to have the venue available for preparation five days before the show, but the Government has refused to hand it over until midnight on June 30.

'If they want to do it their way, we have no objections,' said Mrs Fan.
