Water supply

GUANGDONG would never resort to cutting off Hongkong's water supply because of a political dispute, the province's Governor, Mr Zhu Senlin, promised yesterday after his re-election.

Mr Zhu said Guangdong had never stopped supplying water, even during an extremely dry season two years ago that threatened the province's own reserves.

The same assurance applied to contacts between police and middle-ranking officials in the important fight to stem cross-border crime, he said.
