A crash victim wants $1 million for the accident that 'deprived her of the pleasure of wearing short skirts', the High Court heard yesterday.
Fan Lan-fong, 28, was left with severely scarred legs after she was knocked down by a teenage motorcyclist.
The impact also shattered her pelvic bone, leaving her unable to give birth naturally. In October 1992, she had a baby by Caesarean section.
Ms Fan was on her way to work on December 14, 1990, when she stepped on to a Clearwater Bay Road intersection. James Edward Dawson came roaring towards her on his motorcycle, travelling well over the speed limit, Margaret Ng, counsel for Ms Fan, told the court.
Although he only had a learner's licence, Mr Dawson, 18, was not displaying the mandatory 'L' plates on his bike.
After she was hit, Ms Fan spent six months on sick leave, in and out of hospital.
