Rail traffic on increase

Mainland cross-border rail traffic rose 6.4 per cent last year, with 318,000 passengers crossing into or from Russia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, North Korea and Vietnam.

Cargo transport was up 2.5 per cent on 1995, with 1.74 million tonnes going through the Kazakhstan, central Asia and Europe 'Silk Route' a China Daily report said.
