Teenage windsurfer Cheng Hing-lun finished second to South Korean Song Myung-keun after 12 races in the youth class of the Singapore Invitational Tournament. Hing-lun, who won 1995's tournament, had to play second fiddle to the Korean, who was competing in the event for the first time. Hing-lun, 19, won five races, finished second four times and had a third and fourth place finish. He retired in one race because his board broke in half. He might have won if it had not been for a mix-up in the seventh race when he started 21/2 minutes late. Hong Kong junior, Ben Cheung, won that race. Olivia Chan Hoi-suen, 19, finished sixth overall in the same event.
