You are assigned to build armies and take part in real-time battles fought all over the world between 1846 and 1905.

Players should devise their own strategies for eight campaigns - three from the American Civil War - and 65 different scenarios.

There are also campaigns from Europe, Asia and South America. Each player takes turns at controlling major conflicts. The units and icons, plus an original period soundtrack, add atmosphere.

Age of Rifles is a tactical simulation of 19th century warfare. It has numerous rules options which simulate a variety of battlefield factors. If the basic rules are used, the game is very quick and easy and is not burdened by complex simulation elements.

If played with advanced rules options, it simulates many of the same problems and limitations forced on real commanders in the 19th century.
