A Hong Kong graphic arts software developer has scored a major victory by signing a licensing agreement for one of its products with the United States firm, Fractal Design Corp.
Creature House's award-winning computer graphics software, Expression, will now be published by Fractal Design, which already puts out Painter and other graphics packages.
Research and development director at Creature House Alex Hsu said that the company chose Fractal because the two firms' interests did not conflict.
'We were looking for a company which was more interested in working with us than in buying the Skeletal Strokes technology from us in a one-off deal,' he said.
'In the end we chose Fractal. At that time Fractal was already in a leading position in the painting [bitmap-based] software market and famous for their Painter software. We believed that since we had a drawing [vector-based] software of unprecedented power, the teaming of Fractal and us would lead to a big success. And of course, the terms they offered us were also reasonably attractive,' he said.
Under the agreement, Creature House grants Fractal a worldwide licence to market and publish Expression.
