I remember the moment on August 16, 1977, when I heard on the radio that the King was dead.

I was 11 and was playing with my schoolfriend, Lisa, in her living room.

We were both dumbfounded. Even at such a tender age and not being great fans, we talked about the loss as if we had known him. What intense little girls we must have been.

Nearly 20 years on I haven't a clue what happened to my friend Lisa, but Elvis remains as alive in people's minds as if he died last week.
