Secretary for Constitutional Affairs Nicholas Ng Wing-fui told Mr Tung there was still a lot of work his branch had to do after June 30. Speaking after a 11/2-hour meeting with the Chief Executive-designate, Mr Ng said they had not discussed whether he would keep his job. 'The Joint Declaration and the Basic Law have already stated clearly the policy and procedure of how a civil servant can straddle the handover, particularly the appointment procedure of principal officials,' he said. 'Before the formality is completed, we should not speculate.' Mr Ng said the workload of the Constitutional Affairs Branch would not be reduced after the handover. 'Firstly, on the implementation of the Joint Declaration, there is still a lot to be done after the change,' he said. 'Secondly, we have to re-start the work on electoral arrangements after July 1.'
