Cheung Kong (Holdings) and Sun Hung Kai Properties (SHKP) have won government approval for several residential and commercial developments. Cheung Kong was given permission to build 12 residential blocks of 45-51 storeys at the Tsing Yi station of the airport railway. The project comprises 2.68 million square feet of residential space and 533,510 sq ft of retail space. Cheung Kong also got the go-ahead to build a 25-storey office tower and a 30-storey hotel at King's Road, Quarry Bay, and two hotels in Tin Shui Wai. SHKP said it had received approval for a nine-block 1.1 million sq ft residential development in Siu Lam, Tuen Mun, and a six-block residential project in Ma On Shan. It will also develop six high-rise housing blocks on another site in Tuen Mun, and six 25-storey residential towers in Fu Tei, also in Tuen Mun. A joint venture with Hongkong Land Holdings - a 168-block low-rise residential project in Ngau Tam Mei, Yuen Long - was also cleared. Kerry Properties was allowed to develop a 20-storey cargo centre with car park, with a total floor area of 1.17 million sq ft, in Kwai Chung. Luck Eagle Investment will build two 29-storey industrial-office towers in Container Port Road, Kwai Chung. These were among the 38 building plans approved in November.
