Sex with lover's sister, 14, admitted

A merchant who fell in love with his girlfriend's 14-year-old sister had sex with her about 18 times, the District Court heard yesterday.

The 31-year-old defendant admitted three charges of unlawful sexual intercourse between October 1995 and last April at the teenager's North Point home.

Defence lawyer Paul Fok Hin-fai said the man met the girl's 21-year-old sister in 1990 and moved in with the family a year later.

Mr Fok said the defendant and the teenager fell in love in 1995. Last May she found she was six months' pregnant and went with the defendant to Shenzhen to have an abortion without telling her family. When she returned she discovered her sister had reported her missing to the police.

Under questioning she admitted consenting to sex with her sister's boyfriend on about 18 occasions. The defendant was arrested on July 3 after returning from a business trip to China.

Mr Fok said the girl was concerned about the defendant and had sent him good-luck cards and letters. The defendant wanted to marry one of the sisters in the future, he said.
